Islanders invited to Volunteer Centre Grand Opening on April 7

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island —  To celebrate the official opening of the Volunteer Centre, located at 121B Sandstone Road in Charlottetown, the 2023 Canada Games Host Society is welcoming Islanders to an open house on Thursday, April 7 from 3 to 7 p.m.

The free public event will give Islanders the chance to learn more about volunteer opportunities, meet Wowkwis (Whoa-quis) the official mascot, and try an official PEI 2023 sport such as ringette, hockey, curling and wheelchair basketball.

“The grand opening of the Volunteer Centre is an important milestone within our journey to the Games, and we’re excited to welcome Islanders to be a part of the celebration,” said Karolyn Godfrey, Volunteer VP, Vision, Volunteers & Community Relations. “The centre will become the heart of the Games, where volunteers will come together to welcome the nation and deliver a top-of-podium event that will leave PEI stronger for hosting the Games.”

Located at 121B Sandstone Road in Charlottetown, the Volunteer Centre will act as a primary hub to engage, recruit and train volunteers, while also serving as an important welcome centre for local residents to inquire about the Games.

Beginning April 7, the Volunteer Centre hours of operation will be Thursdays from 3 - 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 2p.m. Islanders are encouraged to drop in to meet our dedicated staff and volunteer team where they will have the opportunity to learn more about the 2023 Canada Games and apply to become a volunteer.
