Chefs de Mission Visit Prince Edward Island

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island — Today, Chefs de Mission from Canada’s 13 provinces and territories are arriving in Prince Edward Island to get a preview of the preparations underway for the 2023 Canada Winter Games as they attend Mission Conference #1 from April 4-7.

“We’re excited to welcome the Chefs de Mission to our beautiful province so they can get a feel for the hospitable nature of PEI, and learn more about the plans for the 2023 Canada Games,” said Brian McFeely and Wayne Carew, Co-Chairs of the 2023 Canada Games Host Society. “During the Mission Conference #1, they will have the opportunity to visit a number of venues that will be used during the Games and receive planning updates from the Host Society volunteers, staff and Canada Games Council.”

The role of the Chefs de Mission is to lead their provincial or territorial team, which

includes a delegation of mission staff, coaches, and athletes. Their responsibilities go beyond the sport competitions to the overall organization of the Games in regards to logistical planning areas, including transportation, food services and athlete services.

“Mission Conference #1 is a meaningful milestone on the road to the Canada Games and we welcome the opportunity to reunite with so many key stakeholders from far and wide on Prince Edward Island," said Evan Johnston, Chair of the Canada Games Council. "We look forward to collaborating with the Host Society to share more about the brilliant plans in store to spark greatness in Canada’s next generation of athletes and leaders at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.”
